Energy Monitoring Systems and Site Surveys

There are many times when a utility overcharge cannot be readily detected from the utility bill. In those situations, REMCO may recommend some form of energy monitoring system, such as a "shadow," or parallel meter, or an Engineering Site Survey. For clients who want to reduce their utility costs, REMCO also offers a unique, state-of-the-art Internet-based Energy Management System.

Shadow Metering
There are times when running a parallel meter is the only way to prove to the utility company or landlord that an overcharge exists. As a rule of thumb, landlords require a parallel meter be installed for a period of 13 months prior to paying out any claims, where utility companies require 1-2 months of data. Parallel metering is an excellent way to determine if a meter is malfunctioning.

Engineering Site Survey
An Engineering Site Survey can provide conclusive evidence regarding your energy use, and can support a dispute claim for an excessive charge. An Engineering Site Survey includes the following two steps:

1.	Connected Load Study - Actual Inventory of Electric Loads
	We will send one or more of our energy engineers to your site to physically inventory every fixture and piece of equipment that draws electricity.
2.	Modified Bin Method - Analyze Loads Based on Outdoor Temperatures
	The physical inventory of electrical fixtures is then downloaded into our Modified Bin software system. This is currently the most accurate way of calculating energy usage in the market place today. The Modified Bin method takes into consideration the construction of the store, the connected load, where the store is located, indoor and outdoor temperatures, occupancy levels, HVAC equipment, size of the store, and whether the store is on a slab, first or upper level. This same software is used nationally and internationally by large engineering firms. Energy Monitoring and Management System
