Our Background
In the spring of 1984 a small group of executives from the engineering, IT, retail and utility industry saw an opportunity to help fortune 1000 companies reduce energy expenses through utility auditing.
Over the past 33 years, Remco Energy has recovered tens of millions of dollars for its clients in the form of refunds credits and future savings. This resulted from one or more of the following errors:
- Clients were billed for electricity they did not use
- The published tariff was not applied properly resulting in excessive charges
- Overlapped billing dates
- The meters were not working properly
- Incorrect meter readings
- Improper taxes
- Erroneous surcharges
- Excess supply rates
- Meters were estimated and never trued up
- The wrong rate was applied to the bill
- Erroneous balance forwards
- The landlord did not charge in accordance to the lease
- Demand reading errors
- Duplicate payments
- The sum of the line items do not equal the total
- Clients were billed by the utility for 30% more than they should have paid due to the improper translation of the revenue requirement into the tariff
In 1997
Remco Energy expanded its service to include test metering.
In 1998 Remco Energy expanded its services to include utility bill management and bill payment which established the foundation for
Remco’s service bureau operation.
In 1999
Remco Energy began expanded its offerings to give customers the opportunity to choose an alternative energy supplier who could provide electricity supply at a more favorable rate than the local utility company.
In 2004
Remco Energy expanded and revamped its service bureau operation to include bill processing for outside telecom consultants.
In 2006
Remco Energy expanded its service bureau operation to include bill processing for outside trash consultants.
By 2007
Remco’s service bureau operation reached a milestone of processing millions of invoices per year with a total spend in excess of $2 billion dollars.
By 2011
Remco Energy grew to be one of the largest utility audit companies in the country.
In 2012,
Remco Energy formed a new company HES (Home Energy Savings) which focuses on the residential customer.
In 2013
Remco Energy launched another new start up (SBES) Small Business Energy Savings. SBES focuses on the small business owners who are concerned about the high cost of utilities. For nearly three decades only big corporations were the beneficiaries of lower energy costs, while the small businesses had no other choice but to pay higher energy costs.
Remco’s new start up gave small business owners the same benefits and opportunities as the fortune 1000 companies have had for years.
In the same year Remco broadened its utility audit scope to include regulatory audits. This not only strengthened Remco’s market position, it set Remco apart from any other auditing company.
With vision into the future, Remco pioneered the first regulatory audit by applying thirty years of utility audit intelligence to the filed rates. For the first time utilities were forced to account for the differences in what was translated into the rates by the Utility Co versus what was approved by the Public Utility Commission. With the introduction of the regulatory audit, Remco’s sales began to accelerate by double digits.
Today, Remco offers a suite of audit services designed to proficiently audit, manage and reduce utility expenses in a manner which turns lost profits into revenues. With over 53 associates in sixteen states, Remco remains headquartered in Princeton, N.J.
